Alan
Gould
Dr. Alan R. Gould is a nationally recognized expert in the field
of oral and maxillofacial pathology. Dr. Gould is a native of San
Marino, California. He completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in
cellular biology at the University of California at Santa Barbara,
received a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from UCLA, and pursued
specialty training in oral pathology at Indiana University School of
Dentistry, receiving a Master of Science degree in 1978.
Dr. Gould joined the faculty of the University of Louisville,
School of Dentistry in 1979, becoming a full professor and serving
the School for 25 years. He provided instruction in general and oral
pathology, radiology, and pain and anxiety management, and directed
the School’s Oral Pathology Laboratory for seventeen years.
He has published numerous scientific manuscripts, abstracts and
book chapters, and served the American Academy of Oral and
Maxillofacial Pathology for six years as Editor of the Oral and
Maxillofacial Pathology Section of Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine,
Oral Pathology, Oral Radiology and Endodontology (Elsevier). He
has served the American Dental Association as a consultant in oral
disease nomenclature, dental procedure coding, and also as a
consultant on dental accreditation.
Dr. Gould is currently Adjunct Professor of Oral and
Maxillofacial Pathology at Indiana University School of Dentistry.
Dr. Gould is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and
Maxillofacial Pathology, and a Fellow of the American Academy of
Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. He is a member of the American
Dental Association, the Kentucky Dental Association, the Indiana
Dental Association, the Louisville Dental Society, the Kentucky
Medical Association, the Greater Louisville Medical Society, and the
American Dental Education Association. He serves on the Oldham
County Board of Health, and is a member of four hospital staffs in
Louisville and two in Indianapolis.
